After some advice,

My area doesn't currently have fibre so im struggling along with 2GB from BT patiently waiting for them to install fibre.
Last week we get a letter from Virgin saying they are installing fibre very soon and they are not hanging around in getting the job done.

I probably have around 6-9 months left to run on my contract with BT and i do not want to wait. What are the chances of me calling virgin and them offering to front the cancelation fee from BT in exchange for my custom?

I know some mobile phone providers have offered a similar service in the past.

Why not call them and ask?

Always look at Quidco to see cashback deals. You have to wait a few months for it to come through but it's worth it:

http://www.quidco.com/virgin-media/?st=vir&tr=2165&fn=home&fr=multiple&si=57e3d0067ae3f&sv=4-MS

Failing that I can get you £50 off your bill (and mine) for referring someone new.
