Found a thread on one of the Brighton forums about the abandoned game in '77.

http://www.northstandchat.com/showthread.php?164389-Swindon-v-Brighton-(abandoned)

Interesting insight into the perils of attending a football match in the 1970's.

Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

First game for me.

Quite happy with what I witnessed.

Needed a poacher just to push the ball over the line at times. I had a horrible feeling that they would sneak one at the death.

Not too disappointed by the call off . The safety aspect doesn't bother me but the ball would not run in the corners and the TE corner was proper fucked.

0:0 makes it less stressful.

I can see this being played on a FA Cup weekend after we both get knocked out.

Do the tickets still have value or will it be full match price?

Good stuff....goes to show how people perceive the same events in different ways, then throw in the passage of time, and you get the unreliablity of history.

And about as reliable as our memories as some say snow, some say rain, and most if not all couldn't remember the rematch score.

They said for the rovers fans to keep their stubs, we've got to pay double next time for the privilege of a roof..

Does this mean that most of your reminiscences on here are bollocks, then?   Cheesy

Not the worst result. Do all the coppers get another days overtime that the club has to pay?

I thought the club only had to pay for police inside the ground. Outside is public and not under their control. Pretty sure Leeds got a million or so refunded a couple of years back after being charged for public areas by West Yorkshire police

Edit
Yep wasn't going mad

You use the same ticket.

The same one at least 10% lost, and 10% will have washed..

it was definitely rain not snow.  new years day 76/77.  Mullery was their manager and told Chris Catlin their fullback at halftime to keep on at the ref until he called it off.  he admitted afterwards that they had got away with it. ref was a gutless wanker called (I think) Robinson).  We won the replayed game 2-1 with a late goal.

You have to buy a new ticket if you want to go to the rescheduled game on the 20th September (unless you're an ST holder). Ouch.

Not really a big deal for me as I couldn't go on Saturday, but still....
