Why has he moved anyway? Was decent in the premier league for ballmouth. Surprised he's gone to be honest.

I'd suggest that once your club accept a transfer bid for you, you are left with very little option.
They've played their hand and labeled you surplus to requirements otherwise they wouldn't have accepted a bid in the first place.

Is that what happened ? Of course you are right if that was the case.

Some assumptions on my part...however...there was no paper talk, or declared interest in Ritchie. He isn't entering the last year of his contract and stalling over a new one or anything like that.

Newcastle sold Townsend, a day later they sign a direct replacement in Ritchie.
Somewhat out the blue and quickly done in comparison to most transfer deals these days. So very much assuming Newcastle put in a bid, Bournemouth accepted deeming Ritchie not needed, so he signed for Newcastle
