Who was your first away game against?
Southampton in the old League 2

What was the score?
Got thrashed 5-1, including a Martin Chivers hat trick and one from Terry Paine.

When was it?
April 1964

How long was it after your first home game?
A couple of years

How old were you?
11

What do you remember about the day?
Went on the Rimes' coach with my older brother's school mate.  Bemused by the lop sided-ness of The Dell and it's bizarre split-level terraces.

Torquay united
2-2
2005?
15 years old
About 9 years after my first game, 6 months after I started going regularly
All I remember is being right in the bottom of the terrace and having the sun blind me for most of the second half, and being sat behind Swindon Town Dave on the coach, and he showed us his tattoos

Wimbledon away in the league cup 1979.

I was 10.

We won 2-1

Remember the town fans being escorted from the train station in full voice and we had more fans than them

I honestly can't remember my first away game Sad I think Saints in the cup replay at the Dell, but it may have been earlier than that.

is that the one where gittens tried to let the ball go out for a goal kick, only they ended up scoring from it, I was at that one, think we took the lead Hmmm

No, this one was much later. I must have gone away earlier than this, bugger knows where or when!

Tbh if it weren't for that website I don't think I'd know anything about at least half of the games I've been to

Cheltenham away September 2002
We lost 2-0
About four years after my first home game
I was 12
I'd been begging my Dad to take my to an away game and he relented seeing as this was so close to home, it was on a Tuesday night so it made it extra exciting knowing it was going to be under floodlights and that I would be home late! I had my Swindon window stickers in the car and was expecting great things! It was when they still had the terrace and I remember how different it felt to a home game being able to stand and chant and really feel a part of a crowd rather than a spectator.
The game was pretty rubbish! Only two things I can remember are Parkin sliding into Cheltenham's goalkeeper and the ref coming over and slipping into Parkin to send him off and still not having the sense to just give him a yellow seeing as how much water as on the pitch!! And then at the end of the game some of our players having a pop at the fans and the anger from our fans was palpable!
My Dad said it was one of the worst away games he's ever been to and is surprised I still wanted to keep going!

Remember that game well.

I'm firmly in the "never boo you own players" camp but fuck me they deserved everything they got that night, I definately dished some out.

Things were very bad at that time

Gurney and Heywood wasn't it, when Steve Coppell was "assisting" King.

Vicarage Road is one of those grounds I've been to reasonably often....up until a few years ago we'd played them in league games more than any other club.  Interestingly in all fixtures we've played them 141 times, won 54, drawn 33, lost 54.  However we've a better goal difference.

We haven't played Watford in the 21st Century  Sad

Until a few years ago, I think Preston was the club we'd avoided playing for the longest period.  See what you say about Watford.  Ipswich are another club we used to play frequently but have now missed playing for an age.

24th March 1973(had to look it up)
Brighton away.
It pissed down all day and we got beat 3-1.
Can remember the coach stopping at Winchester and one of the "lads" giving me a can of Long life.
I was  12.
