The sound on my laptop has decided to stop working and I have no idea why.

I've updated the drivers and according to my computer "This device is working properly" even though it isn't.

It's an Acer laptop, I updated to Windows 10 a couple of months ago.
It has a Realtek HD Audio sound card.

When I try and play an MP3 in Windows Media Player I get an error message, if I click on Web Help it takes me to this page:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/c00d11b1

For the life of me I can't figure out what's wrong, maybe a recent Windows update has messed something up, I don't know.

Anyone have any ideas?

Ta muchly.

Try uninstalling the device in device manager, reboot the PC and let Windows automatically install it again. Sometimes fixes things.

Sorted, downloaded and installed Realtek HD audio codec direct from the Realtek website and that seems to have sorted it, cheers Samdy.
