How long would you expect to wait for your previous supplier to reimburse the amount your account is in credit after switching?

Waiting for £138 from British Gas

Probably best to assume that you'll have to chase it....

Oh and 4D Q and A sub forum is the best place for this sort of stuff.

Good luck getting it.

We were 490 quid in credit, they changed the tariff and fucked it all up meaning we paid for two tariffs. Took weeks to get the money back

Complain on Twitter- I spent weeks in a fruitless phone and email complaint chain with British Gas' usual customer service callcentre who were trying to get me to pay for a previous tenant's usage. One tweet @britishgashelp and I got a call back from a lady who was UK based and clearly had a clue what she was doing who apologised and fixed the problem.

Similar with BT and a few other big firms - main thrust of their customer service is useless, the social media team are brilliant.

Not British Gas, but I chased another supplier for a refund of approximately £300 credit due to an ambitious monthly Direct Debit. 4 months, and that was with an irate me continually chasing.

Agreed - I did this with a problem with my high chair and it was sorted very quickly
