Villa can't even drum up much excitement from their own fans so I can't see how ours will

Mind you a pre season friendly is a pre season friendly Shrug

I like friendlies, especially if they're against an unusual opposition and as will be the case this year, we've a stack of new players to cast the eye over.

After a decent break, a nice relaxing way to spend usually a warm summer evening before a few beers.

Just made the mistake of reading the comments on this on the official FB. Christ on a bloody bike some people are miserable. The only redeeming feature is Tails trolling them.

Hoping we can get a Sporting Gijon or someone at the County Ground again.

Get Napoli, Roma, Juventus or one of those other sides we stuffed in the old Anglo Italian Cup, and I might turn up

I'm away on a fishing trip..

Was looking forward to coughing up £20 to sit in the TE and get the buzz back.

Just have to make do with FGR and Supermarine.

still maintain the best friendlies are in the arse end of nowhere. calne, that sort of thing.

though as reg said there will probably more interest then normal in new players.

Some years back, I remember when Real Oviedo, then a La Liga club, were staying at the Marriot, and nipped into the Croft, for a spot of training.....however I'd booked the pitch, so had to tell them to fuck off  Smiley

They were playing Rovers and Port Vale, so obvious why they wouldn't have wanted to stay there.

Last summer I enjoyed listening to two Yate Town subs talking about Mass and the World Cup.

Sub #1 "He didn't play though."
Sub #2 "Who cares?"
Sub #1 "Fair point."

Conversation gold.

Hampton and Richmond (twice) and last season Bromley generated more anecdotes amongst the London lot, than all of the other pre season matches ever (since 2000 anyway) have ever done.
