The fact that I'm creating a Matchday thread at 8.35 is testament to the huge interest this game has for us.

Don't know if we'll win, lose or draw, but I'm going for a surprise 3-2 victory to us. Hilton, and Gladwin x2.

I suppose the script says that we will play with freedom and abandon whereas PNE will be feeling the pressure and will be nervous and jittery.

I predict that we will go 2-0 though Obika and Hylton. PNE will finally get their shit together in the last 20 and get a couple of goals to make it 2-2.

Then again....who cares.

Preston will go to 10 men, Swindon score in 85th minute to make it 1-0.
Thor leads a pitch invasion.
Swindon fans are kept in ground for an hour and Duke misses his train.
What could have been......

Think we'll lose 2-1. Wouldn't be surprised if we picked up a couple of injuries

Strangely, I'm quite up for this.  (Not that I'm going.)  I like the idea that we might ruin Preston's party, allow Franchise to slip in - and then get a crack at kicking Preston's demoralised arses again in the Play Offs.

This would, of course, mean having a hand in getting the Franchise abomination promoted, which doesn't sit easy with me.  But as mentioned previously, the prospect of being beaten by Franchise in the Play Offs - and they would beat us - is too horrific to contemplate.

Come on Swindon!  For all the bearing this has on our Play Off campaign, this might as well be a Play Off game itself.

The 92-93 end of season was similar (I think) in so far as the last few games didn't matter and we played West Ham at the end getting well beaten before that wonderous play off semi's and final.

I'm told Cooper is resting players for today's game. Anyone else heard anything?

I would imagine fods might not play until the play offs now. Possibly the same with luongo.

You would think Byrne might need a rest also.

Very similar. The last few games of the normal season bore no resemblance to the play off games back then. Hopefully the same will be true this time.

Also back then, Portsmouth were in the driving seat for the autos right up to the penultimate game. They'd been looking unbeatable but absolutely tanked in the play offs. The rest as they say, is history.

Take your point re irritation of helping them but do you want to be facing MKD in the playoffs given that they have hammered us twice and losing to them at Wembley would be about as bad as it gets.
