I have had a half day of work to sort out some stuff with Social Services.

Finished early, so now coming to the CG tonight for what will be my first game of the season - keeping one of the boys off football practice.

3 points and a joyful reaquaintance with the York Road chippy awaits. (at least one of those will be true).

It's ok 'pikey' isn't a racist term. It's derived from turnpike and was/is associated with itinerant travellers and thieves (Google is my friend). Which means we can abuse gillingham to our hearts content.

The term is strongly associated with itinerant life and constant travel: pikey is directly derived from pike which, c. 1520, meant to "go away from, to go on" and related to the words turnpike (toll-road) and pike-man (toll-collector)

Looking forward to this. Was there in 79/80 when it all kicked off. Going down there the season after was fun. Think Queens Drive will be a bit quieter tonight. I hope they come to give us a game and not park the caravan. I can see those around us dropping points tonight so a win is vital. Hopefully Yasser will be on his game and that Swift remembers the ball isn't attached to his toe on a bit of string and realises there are 10 other players in red.

Anton Rodgers on the bench despite his fractured wrist, and there's a place amongst the subs for youngster Tommy Ouldridge.
