It’s was more like 7 numbers but the MSM won’t report that. I was in the city for another reason. |

A guy on ground level confidently reckons it was a million people vs the police who deal with this kind of stuff on the regular estimate at 150k generously….who to believe?!

I was briefly lured down a rabbit hole on Twitter where various people were discussing the numbers from last weekend and someone who had claimed that there was a million+ reached out to 'Grok' asking it to calculate how many people could realistically fit in the areas that were congregated and the answer was something like 80,000*
This willy waving over protest numbers is all very Trump inauguration ceremony all over again isn't it.
Whatever the numbers, my concern is the absolute division in this country, nay the world. Having been on holiday for the past 2 weeks the only interaction with what was going on in the world was this forum. To be honest I probably should have avoided this thread as it gave me a good idea of what was going on. Costs are rising, people are angry, government is shit, continually. My personal way of coping with this is to use the mantra of 'trying not to be a cunt'. Not always easy mind!
* And yes, I know AI can be wildly inaccurate

It’s a right poser isn't it.... To be fair to them (which is a challenge I know), it’s very difficult to get any sense of how many people there are when you actually attend. It’s like being at a game, sat in the DRS it feels quite full if you're sat in the middle, it’s only when you see a picture from the other side that you can see how many empty seats there are. |

Freedom of speech only appears to work one way though. It’s like the killing of Kirk, I read somewhere that it’s the 39th politically motivated shooting in the US in recent times (can’t remember the exact period). The previous event was the killing of two democratis by a MAGA supporter. Of the 39, it was something like 8 from the looney left, 25 from the Racist Right & the rest of the perpetrators were of undetermined political inclination. However, it’s only the killing of a friend of Trump that garnered the view that one side is out of control & needs to be shut down, wonder why that might be? |
