If Iraq win on Thursday then they might get through to the next round. They haven't won in a while though so the chances are probably slim. Next round is on the 23rd so no Yasser if they were to progress.

Okey dokey, seems a bit harsh on Yaser if they were to progress.

Hmm, glad to have him in a town shirt but I'm old fashioned and this was a tourney. National team > Club team

I can't work out whether we prevented him from stay because FIFA rules said we could, or whether he HAD to come back because FIFA rules said he must.

Despite the fact Iraq are due to continue their Gulf Cup campaign against the UAE on Thursday, Town have been allowed to recall their star midfielder from international duty early due to the closure of the FIFA international window.

Whatever that means!

The tournament that Iraq are playing in is not a FIFA registered event (so probably fairer and less subject to corruption) and therefore not covered by FIFA rules. Therefore whilst we could not stop his abscence during the international break once that ends I assume it was only at our discretion?

This is why Town were looking to keep Kasim for the Bristol City game but because the first two games fell under the FIFA window then there was nothing they could do.
