How do they know it's commuters? Could be shoppers.

I quite often walk my dog in that area in the morning, and see people park their car and then walk off into town, or to the nearby bus stop... Must be annoying for the residents.

If you think about it, then the roads outside of people's houses, are just as much the property of other road users as any other, contingent of course on local bye laws, and the application of common courtesy, like not blocking drives etc.

So really nothing to get annoyed about...however in our modern stress riddled society, there are way too many people who look for any old excuse to do something daft.

It seems  that (imo) people with driveways choose to park on the road outside their house,so that nobody else can.
Mind you ,most households have at least 2+ cars nowadays.

That's true for a normal day, yes. There actually is a "no parking on matchdays" sign on Burford Road...

Sorry OT,  I'd be fuming if it happened to me. I used to park in that area on match days years ago and it was always rammed with fans cars. I thought residents only parking was in place in central Swindon or am I totally wrong?

Although it is obviously central enough for commuters to park there and walk.
