Google tells me it's basically a sprained ankle.

When I sprained my ankle I didn't but a big cast on it, I simply sprayed some PR freeze spray on it and carried on playing.

It may or may not be linked to having fucked ankles now.

I sprained my ankle once and couldn't put any pressure on it at all for a couple of weeks or so. Unfortunately for me this was two days into a 2 week holiday. Spent an awful lot of time sitting around the pool with my foot up, drinking. I suppose it could have been worse.

Either way, a sprain is a tearing of ligaments. Likewise a strain is tearing of muscle fibre - So as with any injury, it just depends on the severity or grading as to how long he's out for.. Admittedly I haven't read the article as I can't be arsed, but it could be anything from 2 weeks to a few months.
Hopefully it's the former! As I hear the lad has had a great start to the season .

I have never broken anything but tearing the cruciate ligaments in my knee some years back was absolute agony.

Rupturing my achilles smarted too.

I'm currently sidelined from my elite 6-a-side game after I sprained my ankle 3 weeks ago.

As above, a sprain is torn ligaments, so it really depends on how bad the tear is as to the severity of the sprain and therefore the recovery time.

I couldn't put any weight on my foot for a good few days, the doctors sent me for an X-Ray which came back as no fracture but torn ligaments, then I hobbled around for another 10 days, and it's only in week 3 that I'm starting to actually walk a bit on it.

I can't turn or do anything other than walk carefully on a flat surface at the minute, but it's getting better each day and hopefully I'm only another couple of weeks from running again.

I'm pretty hardcore, though, so Gladwin might be out for a bit longer than a month by my reckoning.
