Hello geeks.

I just recently bought a new motherboard for my NAS and made a bit of a schoolboy error. I thought my spare RAM would fit, alas the new mobo takes DDR3 and I only have DDR2.

Where is the best/cheapest place to buy 8GB of DDR3L please?

Don't know whether it's the cheapest, but it's likely not far off. I use crucial.com mainly as I've had 2 SSD drives die and they've turned them around in under a week, which I felt was good for a company that wasn't Amazon.

Cheers Bazza. My bargain motherboard isn't looking such a bargain now I'm having to spend almost as much again on new RAM Doh

I'm similarly interested as have decided it is time to chuck some RAM in my machine once it comes back from having its hinge fixed. Let us know how you get on Samdy.

Ebuyer.co.uk, aria.co.uk, scan.co.uk are good sites

That's a this week only deal which won't be bettered. Overkill for a NAS, but may as well get that for the same price as slower and cheaper memory as it has lifetime warranty.

Looks a good deal, but I need SO-DIMM.

Trying to keep to low voltage stuff too to minimise power consumption.

You're looking at round £70 for 8gb of SODIMM memory from what I can see. Damn.

If power consumption is the main consideration get a single stick of memory rather than two - that will save more power than lower volt memory but it's going to be negligible either way
