Nice that Nathan being a local lad is captain of the team he came through the youths with but I do feel we miss a Ward style captain

I'm not entirely convinced that Thompson is 'captain material'. But what is nowadays?

I hope he slam dunks the role.

Really? Can't see what leadership attributes Ward displayed.

The whole Captain thing is massively overvalued.

Pre-match coin toss, the odd chat with a ref during the game and that's about it.  Other traditional "captain" roles such as leadership, encouragement should be displayed by any player who has those skills regardless of whether they are wearing an armband or not.

Completely agree that the role of captain is overhyped in this country. Leadership isn't and shouldn't be confined to wearing an armband.

Well he turns 21 in early April so that'll end the youth loan, right?
