I bought a gold chain when I was 18 when it was (kind of) fashionable. I haven't worn it for years now and was thinking of using one of these cash for gold places to get some readies.

Has anyone used these before and can recommend?

The chain cost either 200 or 300 quid in about 1998 from H Samuel. I think its 24 carat. I was thinking that I'd be happy with about a ton.

After ditching Mrs Audrey No. 1 I just took my wedding ring into a jewellers and sold it to them.

Got enough to celebrate for a weekend ( it was the 80s)

Have you thought about EBay, may get a better price there

Yeah but I can't really be bothered with the faff on Ebay if I am perfectly honest.

I might try a jeweller.

Not sure but the scrap value alone is approx £450 - £500. Don't take less than £400

Check the hallmark - it'll be there somewhere if it's real gold. 375 for 9ct gold (you won't get much) or 750 for 18ct gold. 990 or 999 for 24ct, but I'd be surprised if it's 24ct.

Cheers all.

I suspect as I got it from H Samuel that it probably likely to be 9ct.

The company we use will give you £220 if it's 9ct. Processing fee might be £50! Check the hallmark before sending it.
