Well yes, but to point out that the majority of us live in the UK and the Franco-German EU model is exactly that.

I always associated the word parish with religious or church areas. Maybe its from my childhood and when I got married, but the word always seemed to mean something more important than a division of an area that can be treated differently from another area in order to tax one set of people more than others.

Sounds like something I need to do some swatting up on to find out more.

I can't give you the honorary traditional welcome as I personally dislike the word.

I will say that I like your forum name though. Had forgotten about him.

My old house was in a village, and the village was part of a parish which had a church, a school, village green and pub. I assumed that towns were run by town councils and villages by parish councils.

If Cameron is going to split everything up into individual parishes that will cause huge problems in every town and city.

which is why labour let in all the cheap labour from eastern europe to surprsess the wages of its working class core vote....

The Tories signed the Maastricht Treaty which enshrined free movement of labour intra EU member states....
