We're trying to get half of our village connected to broadband who aren't currently - Superfast would be nice but highly unlikely, we just want to get a steady stream of around 5mb - I want to talk to an experienced 'insider' who could maybe share some knowledge of what options are available - we have some funding and a number of small business prepared to work together...

Sorry, don't know anybody. Don't Openreach normally only do it if it's economically viable for them?

Maybe if Mr Williams & Mr McIntyre added their weight to it, something might happen.

I'd be interested in this as well.  Just bought a house in Covingham (new build) Virgin Fibre not available, BT want £3k to feed infinity into the new street.  Stuck with shitty Sky (16 mb/reality less than 4 mb) broadband.

Any help or advice appreciated.

Morning all

We live in old town and BT Infinity website have had a date which started as being Jan 2013 - every month kept rolling to the next

Now it says Jan-March 2014

I know the exchange is live, so I think it's a cabinet upgrade --- is there any real way of finding out if this is actually scheduled anytime in those 3 months or is it all a bit of a piss take stringing us along ?

Yeah I have tried that and it just says March 2014 - and sorry it's taking longer than expected to get your cabinet ready for service

The problem is that this has been the same for over a year now ?!?

I wondered if anyone in the know would be able to see if the cabinet is actually due to be upgraded, or what the problem is ?

I work from home so faster Broadband would be a massive bonus !!!

Thanks but none of this tells me anything about the cabinet - I guess thats the only real way of knowing when we might be connected to Infinity ?

Everything else seems to be done apart from the cabinet ?

Yes, the exchange is enabled but your cabinet hasn't been upgraded. It was all planned out in 2011 but many roll-outs have been delayed, hence the date for your cabinet keeps getting pushed back.

Unfortunately it's just a case of having to wait. Mine got delayed, but my exchange was one of the first to be enabled so I didn't have too long to wait.

A friendly Openreach engineer might be able to look up the details.
