As an ex-Wimbledon resident, I was about to take issue with your comment and bang on about Wimbledon's brilliant public transport links...which, in general, they are.

And then I remembered how that particular bit of Wimbledon really is in a public transport black hole.  So you have a point.  Plough Lane was before my time.  Where did people used to drink before games?  Decent (if pricey) pubs in Wimbledon Village, but that would have been a bit of a trek.
