Let’s be honest - it hasn’t been made for the team to wear really has it.
Like all 3rd shirts - it’s just a gimmicky ploy to sell merchandise.

Very rarely do teams actually need a 3rd kit and usually if they do it’s because they’ve deliberately made their away kit an extremely popular colour (hello white away kits) so their home & away kits will clash with teams.

I think it looks bloody brilliant and will sell but the team won’t use it much - if ever.

…and that fact it’s been released 3 months into the season which just so happens to be a month away from Christmas is clearly not a footballing based decision either…

I suspect more likley they will use this and not use the blue one. The whole kits thing is a nonsense anyway insofar as how often do you see teams playing in the 2nd or 3rd kit when there is blatantly no clash with the 1st kit!

Talking of kits, if anyone has a 5/6 year old, last year's away shirt is now two of your English pounds:

Few other cheap bits in the sale too

I got one of these away shirts a couple of weeks ago for my boy, he's 5 and I don't think it'll fit him now never mind another month of growing ready for xmas they're quite small shirts. It'll probably go to his brother who's 3 and more likely to fit!  Smiley

Nice kit aside, purple being a cross between red and blue really makes it the most pointless choice for a third kit, doesn't it?

Luckily no cup run as if we'd have placed Crystal Palace it would have highlighted what a farce it is.

Good job we didn't end up in a replay at Aldershot  Roll Eyes

My guess is that the contract with Puma requires 3 kits - if my memory is correct they are often launched in November - the black one from a couple of years ago which had its first outing in 1-4 loss Orient away being an example.

I think there is a rule somewhere which stipulates that the main away kit will be used in a minimum number of games, and similarly (with a lower minimum) for the 3rd kit. This explains the apparently unnecessary wearing of away kits when there is no clash of colours.

The main away kit has not done its job in securing away wins so far.
Hopefully the 3rd kit will make its debut on Tuesday & herald a change of fortune on the road.

Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

Gonna pop into my loft later to see if I can find my late 90s black and blue inter Milan style shirt for tomorrow.

Blue kit is cursed so looking forward to the change in our fortunes. I think it is better to have a bright kit, helps to quickly pick players out. I'm at risk of going all Alex Ferguson grey kit but the purple should be more visible than the blue.

Love that kit. Prime Iffy and George Ndah. 81 goals conceded that year though!
