What I find most worrying is the implication that if KMac, a specialist in developing youth, looked at our youthful squad and didn't reckon he could make much of it, what chance does that leave anyone else?
Massive difference to coaching kids and managing a first team though isnt it

Well yes - that's why I would hope he would give an interview as to why he left.
* Appleton seems to have got away with it.

edit: And yes DRS, there is no shame at giving a managerial position a go and deciding it wasn't for him. Always found it a bit strange he'd left it until now in his career to give it a go.

Yeah, but then you'd have thought he'd have realised that before he started. He's been in and around the game long enough, and seen it from enough different angles (player, youth coach, 1st team coach, assistant manager of Ireland, caretaker at Leicester and Villa) to clock that. The point being it's not like this is the first time he's been near senior 1st team professional football and suddenly thought "Oooh, I didn't realise you had to do THAT"

The parallels to Malpas were become clearer and more apparent. Maybe he's actually done us a favour, who knows.

Maybe he would have made us brilliant this season, I wanted to believe and gave my support but then again I did the same for Malpas for aaaaaaaaaages.

OK, I don't usually post unfounded rumours, and this is pretty tenuous, but it is a report of a conversation relayed to someone who has no particular reason to make it up, so I'm passing it on for the TEF's consideration:

Quote
KMac left Swindon because it became clear that he would be instructed when to play the Spurs loanees. I think this means that they will play if they are available. It seems that his position was not as he expected when he joined, although what he was expecting is unknown.

Probably not a million miles from what we were imagining, but may become interesting if any of the loanees' form dips.

I'd say in Hall, Pritchard and Mason, they are the best in their relevant positions. As you say if their form dips it might be interesting but I think its clear they are here putting in a shift so I don't really have a problem with this. We get good players on loan for cheap and they get game time, which benefits spurs.

We've kind of done this discussion to death already anyway.

Just to add that Jed unambiguously said we don't contractually HAVE to play the Spurs players  (BBC Wilts phone in), I think he also said it was the managers choice - not 100% sure.

The latter is important. Anyone else remember him saying that?

Don't remember, but Mason was on the bench for Gills and QPR so would seem to be some autonomy in the dugout?
