So I've just pulled out my printer from where it's been stored for a while, and the black's not printing right. I changed the black cartridge (which was out after I printed a page and realised it was crap anyway), have done a nozzle clean, alignment, all the junk. There's not a problem with the colour, just the black.

Here's a scan of my print test sheet. The problem's with the black (right and top text of image)

Printer's an Epson Stylus SX235w

have done a nozzle clean, alignment, all the junk.

Keep repeating those steps and see if it clears.

If not follow Sonic's advice.

seriously, the ink cartridges are probably worth as much as the printer itself if not more

Oh, I get that, I just need to print some documents for tomorrow as there's a courier coming to pick up a package.

Maybe try printing in super high quality mode.

Because I know everyone is FASCINATED by this, I fixed the problem via the use of a cotton bud and some cleaning alcohol on the printer head.
