Jerel - Gave away penalty, to many mistakes - 5
Sean - Not his greatest not his worst - 6

Nicho - quite solid - 6
Smith - Impressed me playing center mid in 2nd half - 7
Whalley - Are you Hewlett in disguise - 4
Pook - Average really - 6
Roberts- He scored, ran himself into the ground, looked the most commited - 7.5
Cureton - Hardly touched the ball -6
Thorpe- Got himself on the scoresheet with a nice tidy finish - 7

subs

Shakes - Ran at the defenders when he got the ball - 6
Nicoulau- Couple of good crosses - 6

Whalley looked rusty rather than plain crap to me. I saw potential in i a poor performance.

Collins, jury out. Made a couple of mistakes including the first goal, had some good touches.

We looked OK until the goal and reasonably good in the last 15. Not sure if the latter was due to us upping it or Oldham falling asleep.

6  Rhys - didnt do much

3 Collins - his best position is right back? how fucking bad is he at centre back then?

6 Sean O'H  - our best defender, not that there was much comepetiton for that

4 Ifill - He may have his good points but he's a liability. get rid.

4 nicholas - Seems to have forgotten the very basics of defending and even playing football. looks a totally different player to when he broke into the side

5 Whalley - Seemed to get better as the game went on which is wierd because he didnt look match fit to me. He gave the ball away a hewlett-esque amount of times although hedid show a couple of glimpses. a lot more to come from him i hope

6 Smith - not a natural midfielder, at least he worked fairly hard

6  Pook -  ditto Smith, although he got stuck in a bit more.

7 Roberts - At least ran at them and looked to cause problems. Seemed to believe in himself more than some of the others. Well taken goal, he can still do better though

5 Cureton - a bit hard to say really, as when given proper service he looked ok.

6 Thorpe - much like Cureton, starved of any kind of decent service. Gets a 6 for a decent finish.

To sum it up, I'm glad Fallons back on saturday and looking sharp in pre season.

We dont appear to be good enough to play "football" so at least with an aggresive centre forward we can go more direct and actually give the likes of Thorpe, Cureton and Roberts something to work off.

Rhys- rubbish reactgion to free kick but OK- 6

Jerel- the only good bits were his surges forward but it was too late and that ain't his job- 3, get him out

Sean- his worst performance in a red shirt, lucky not to get sent off- 2

Collins- wank get him out never bothered to get back at all- 0

Nicho- good solid effort, tried hard, looked unfit- 6

Whalley- a great passer of a ball who can't pass it if it's 20 yards in the air- 5

Smith- awful first, impressive second half- 5

Pook- shit- 2

Roberts- often wasteful but the only one who really tried, nice imagination- 7

Cureton- unconvincing- 4

Thorpe- did nothing at all but score- 4

Nicolau- must start, at least he can cross- 6

Reeves- top bloke, must start- 10

Shakes- why didn't he start?- 6

Roberts made too many errors for me, but at least he tried.

Well having attended my first match of the season Saturday and to be frank totally apalled at the way we began here are my views and marks on the night

Rhys Evans 7 - a quality keeper .. had no chance
Pat Collins - 6 - can do better - I think he has quality but hasnt got used to us just yet
Sean O'Hanlon 6 - had an average game by his standards - guessing he was still ill
Jerel Ifil - 6 - still quality .. harsh penalty - can do better tho
Andy Nicholas 5 - poor .. looks half the player he once was
Gareth Whalley 4 - awful - can play but seems to be more of a winger than cental midfield - classic case was when he played a bad pass then fell over leaving us totally exposed
Michael Pook 5 - where was he? typical youth player - no impact
Jack Smith 6 - tried hard - out of positon but did ok
Christian Roberts 8 - star man - had attitude to begin with as he didnt want to play on wing .. but once up front and free he looked like the only one who wanted it - excellent goal
Jamie Cureton 6 - Tony Thorpe 6 - hard to tell the difference between these two .. both the same - shouldnt be played together - can obviously tuck away any chance that is laid on a plate for them but dont produce much on their own

Subs Reeves 7 - got us organised when he came on
Shakes 7 - VERY VERY fast - scared them
Nicolau 7 - looked good - good passing

OVERALL

We started with an appalling 4-4-2 formation which had too many players out of position - no midfield AT ALL - do we have ANY central midfielder of quality at the club except for the always injured Migz??

We hit long balls to the shortest strikers  in the league .. it was only when we changed formation and used the wings and kept the ball on the floor did we really hurt them

Hopefully King will persist with 3 at the back .. two out wide and 3 up front as we have no midfielders to play in the middle anyway - Fallon will help when he returns -

My side when all are fit would read like this

Evans

Back three of O'Hanlon Ifil and Collins
Wing backs Nicolau and Shakes
Midfield 2 of Migz and a new TACKLING midfielder (otherwise Smith)
Roberts In the Hole and Cureton or Thorpe (half each!) with Fallon

If King doesnt get that midfielder ... then I honestly think we might go down .. worrying times ahead

Rhys 6 - Had nothing to do
Jeril 4 - Confidence is laking big time.
Sean 5 - probably suffering from his virus
Collins 4 - Didn't do anything to impress me
Nicho 5.5 - i thought he did ok. looked nervous and rusty though
Smith 5 - was he playing
Whalley 6 - Showed glimpses of his class but also gave ball away
Pook 7 - for the first half - 4 for the second
Roberts 7 - ran all over tha place. thought he worked hard
Thorpe 4 - did nothing all game apart from score
Cureton 4 - lazy

once we changed it and Reeves came on i thought we looked more organised. Tryed to get the ball down and play it.

Shakes 6 - looked to run at the defenders all the time. boy is he fast.

Reeves 6 - Old head always calmed the situation. wish his legs were 10 years younger though

Nichalou(sp) 6 - always looked to get down the wing and dilivered a few good balls. like the look of him

I give everyone 5

Rhys kicking seems to have improved.

I dont like Curteton he's a cunt.

King play a Nicolu on the left for christ sake.

Whalley had done nothing in the 2 games Ive seen to make me think he anything other than average.

That is all.

Rhys, must have spent all pre-season practicing his kicking, looked good.  Nothing he could do about any of the goals.

Ifil - in a word - brainless.  If in fucking doubt, kick the fucker out!!!! Big hoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooof

O'Hanlon - ok - half a hooooooooooooooooooooof

Nicholas - I actually thought he looked a bit better than last season, still no way near his best though.

Whalley - Disappointing home debut, how many times can a pro footballer pass the ball to the opposition.

Collins - Poor - hoooooooooooooooof

Pook - Poorer

Jack Smith - I didn't think he was that bad, a lot of potential there

Roberts - Good man, showed commitment, looked genuinely fucked off when the defence let us down.  Glad he got a goal, looked a real threat late on!

Cureton - Alright, nowt special from him

Thorpe - Put himself about a bit during the first ten minutes, then did little

In summary when we kept the ball down we looked good, not brilliant but good.  When we hoooooooof the ball to two midgets we're never gonna cause any trouble to the opposition.
