They didn't ditch it. Apparently, it was never in the plans. A great urban myth, widely reported as fact.

Why is it controversial? It looks incredible.

And the beer thing means they serve more people quicker and with less waste. They're a great idea.

It seems they've been around for a couple of years. If Jed was still around, no doubt we would have them in his Town end bar by now!  Cheesy

English punters are going to hold the glasses over their mates' heads and push the magnet up, aren't they. #notbritproof

Watford v Wolves at Wembley yesterday - was amazing to go to a match there with atmosphere and two good sets of fans. Almost felt like a football stadium.

The Inglis books on Football Grounds were classics.  For Leitch fans, you still can still get a shot of his classic stand front framing at Goodison.

I note that the book is about £140 on Amazon at the moment? Many of the EH books are very good, on a more local level this is a good read, and is as yet, not stupid money https://www.amazon.co.uk/Swindon-Legacy-Railway-John-Cattell/dp/187359254X

I still have my copy of "The Football Grounds of England and Wales" (1985). A couple of (admittedly selective) extracts that I particularly enjoy:

"Rather like Reading itself, Elm Park contains little of interest."

"With scarcely an arresting detail inside the ground and nothing of note visible beyond, Elm Park is probably the least interesting ground in the Football League."

"Nor is the Manor Ground everyone's idea of what a football ground should be. But then, as George Bernard Shaw wrote in Man and Superman, 'Very nice sort of place, Oxford, I should think, for people that like that sort of place'."
