I'm getting myself a hard drive, preferably one with 2tb on it.

I'm fine with computers, but never had a hard drive before. I've seen this one below on Amazon

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Seagate-STBV2000200-Expansion-External-Drive/dp/B0084LZI5Y

Seems a good price for the storage space, but i'd happily pay a bit more if it means i'm going to get a more reliable hard drive.

So, can anybody recommend any good makes etc? Any help gratefully received....

Seagate aren't bad. They took over Samsung's HDD business.

Western Digital are another brand to look out for.

Prices rocketed at the end of 2011 due to the tsunami in the far east where most of these are manufactured or where the parts are sourced from.

Supply is only just really returning to normal, plus popularity of solid state drives, is bringing prices down to a much lower level.
