Controversially (and a steal from the 'worst 10 players' thread): Joey Beauchamp.
Under-rated to a ridiculous degree.
I nominated Joey for 'delicious villainy'. He had plenty of ability.

Antione Van Der Linden

First time poster so please be gentle. I always thought Jonathan Smith didn't get the credit he deserved last season, can't ever remember him letting us down.

He wasnt terrible, but bar the odd game, he just seemed to run around a lot to me.

Lee Barnard, not the most talented but a player who always gave 100% every game he played for us.

Most of the names mentioned above weren't vaguely under-rated during their time here. Beauchamp and Jack Smith are good shouts as they proved their value elsewhere. On that basis you'd have to say we under-rated Mustapha Carayol, but I can't think of any others off the top of my head who we let go for little or nothing and went on to bigger things.
On the criterion of personal heroes that no-one else revered, I offer you Colin Bailie and Howard Pritchard. I was at an impressionable age. Oh and more recently, Philippe Cuervo.

Peter Coyne - not really underated at the time, but rarely gets mentioned in the "top players" type threads, and was for a few seasons the top scoring midfielder that we don't seemed to have had since.

Nicky Hammond. Suffers from comparison with Fraser, and everyone seems to remember his horror shows as well, even after all these years. But on his day, he was a very accomplished goalkeeper. I'm fairly sure that he did keep Fraser out of the side for significant periods.

By default that support of Hammond sends him onto the over rated list surely
