I haven't put Charlie Henry on here for example as I am putting him in the strikers section as though he started as a defender I remember him most for the 85-86 season and the Gillingham play off goal.
Small point - I would have thought Charlie scored most of his goals as a midfielder. That was certainly the case with the 18 or so he got in the 85-86 season. 1. Shaun Taylor 2. Colin Calderwood 3. Ian Culverhouse 4. David Kerslake 5. Paul Bodin 6. Tim Parkin 7. Chris Ramsey 8. John Trollope 9. Jon Gittens 10. Nicky Coleman

1. Colin Calderwood 2. Stan Harland 3.Frank Burrows 4.John Trollope 5. Rod Thomas 6.Shaun Taylor 7. Tim Parkin 8. Nestor Lorenzo 9.Kenny Stroud 10.Chris Ramsey
Players like Kerslake and Paul Bodin....were more attackers than defenders ,therefore didn't get included.
BTW who the fuck is John Bell? John Bell - Link http://www.swindon-town-fc.co.uk/ForceFrames.htm?http://www.swindon-town-fc.co.uk/Seasons.aspI hadn't heard of him either, got his name from a programme. I checked him out and he played 30 odd games just before my time...never noticed his name before. Think Mick Blick should get a mention fro unstinting loyalty to the STFC shirt.

Glad to see some players before the 90's get a mention. I think this is the first vote Nicky Coleman gets, Chris Ramsey has got a couple of mentions, one of my favourites from that period.

This will show my age...
1. Calderwood 2. Culverhouse 3. Taylor 4. Bodin 5. Trollope (just because he played loads, so i am assuming he was quite handy...) 6. Kerslake 7. Borrows (Brian) 8. Thomas (because i know he was international quality at the time) 9. Heywood 10. Kilcline

I've been meaning to add this up for ages!
The votes finished as
Shaun Taylor 108 Colin Calderwood 102 Paul Bodin 59 David Kerslake 44 John Trollope 41 Frank Burrows 34 Stan Harland 29 Ian Culverhouse 28 Rod Thomas 25 Phil King/Jon Gittens 19 Tim Parkin/Alan Reeves 13 Sean O'Hanlon/David Hockaday 12 Mel Nurse 8 Chris Ramsey/Adrian Viveash/Joe Butler 6 Nestor Lorenzo 5 Kenny Stroud/Brian Borrows 4 Marlon Broomes/Steve Aizlewood/Matty Heywood/Brian Kilcline 2 Keith Morgan/Mark Seagraves/Colin Prophett/Nicky Coleman 1.
So Shaun Taylor and Colin Calderwood ran away with it, with Bodin in 3rd and Kerslake in 4th just ahead of Trollope.
So with Digby winning the goalie vote by miles the team so far is
Digby Bodin Taylor Calderwood Kerslake.
I can see a theme somewhere!

Ade Viveash got 6 votes.Mmmmmm I thought you were going to say...David Kerslake wasn't a better right back than Rod Thomas or that Zippy wasn't a better left back than John Trollope. OK.... I will

I will Probably true, but how many people on here do you think actually watched Kerslake and Zippy compared with Thomas and Trollope?

No idea...but unless you have a degree of objectivity in these things, it renders them a bit pointless.

Only ever saw Trollope play, my first game was in 1976 when I was 8 so two late for the other two. I guess a lot of people on here (most probably) are a lot younger than me and are bound to vote for the players they've seen, no way round that really.

Fair enough, but you wanted defenders....and neither Kerslake or Zippy really were, being converted midfield players who spent most of their time attacking...i

I know, but they still got in the top 4.
And I did say that people could vote wherever they wanted to for players, it was hard enough trying to think of them all without going into it too deep, it's supposed to be a bit of fun!
