Got to be Wiggins surely?

Winning the TDF on its own is a greater achievement than anything any of the others did, chuck in a gold and its a no brainer for me.

Probably one of the most difficult ones to call from recent years due to the Olympics, but it'll be a travesty if Wiggins doesn't win.

If he doesn't, then it has to be Hoy.

Two cyclists winning two years on the trot will be a great achievement for the sport.

It's a shame that this year there are a number of worthy winners.  Some years it's a struggle to think of one!

Wiggins I would say, but Murray has a big following, so could sneak it.

The Zara Phillips and Giggs years spring to mind

Wiggins or Murray for me... not sure who the public will go for though, maybe Ennis or Farah?

I'd go for Ellie Simmonds myself.

Sure winning the TDF is an achievement, but not so much when you're paid £2m a year, needed a team of other cyclists sacrificing themselves for you and having the most extensive support team in the sport. Same for Ennis, Farah and Murray.

Ellie winning a gold was one of the moments of the olympics for me, it actually meant something to her. Most of the others in the running had more of a thank fuck I've won and not fucked it up again response.

Sports PERSONALITY... Wiggins, no contest. Can't wait for his acceptance speech.

If it was simply based on sporting achievement it would have to be Wiggins.

To achieve something that no other Brit has ever done & then win Olympic Gold a couple of weeks later.

However, if its based on personal achievement then one of the athletes from the Paralympics should win.

Jess Ennis' arse may have just tipped the balance in her favour.

Gotta be Wiggo though..

I hadn't realised what David Weir did. To get his 4th medal in the marathon when he was clearly knackered was some achievement.
