I don't like the adver, they always push him into saying controversial things. Obviously to sell more papers, but it is detriment to the club.
Absolute bollocks. Di Canio doesn't need any pushing, have you never listened to his post-match rants?

I'd be interested to see what our results have been like after each of these bigger Paolo rants. I suspect they are probably pretty good. I also think most of the players are on his side, particularly the older pros like Miller, Ward and Navarro and the youngsters like Flint etc will be learning every day under Paolo. Whilst he's always been a nutter he's clearly and intelligent man, more so than I think a lot of us give him credit for, and lets not forget he was one hell of a player.

Big win tomorrow and this will all be forgotten but the adver should watch their step, they're clearly using Paolo's limelight to try and make a name for themselves and I don't like it.

But the adver love it. They hang off his rants.

Spot on Paul.  The amount of people who think the adver or Sam Morshead or Chris Wise goad paolo into these quotes is laughable.  He doesn't need any encouragement to stick his size 10's right royally in it.

Paolo can spout on about professionalism all he want but maybe if he acted with more of it wed be better off.

I think there's a large part of paolo surprised no pl or champ club has made an approach for him yet.  Not read the article but he talk about this chance he had to move on 2 months ago. Well if he did I think he'd be out of a job a while.  No other league 1 or 2 club could afford him and he hasn't done enough to attract most higher league clubs.

So what should they do? Not report it? Then he'd be ranting that he was being censored as would most on here. He kicks off in press conferences because he wants the attention, that's not the paper's fault is it?

The adver always seem to have a negative aspect on things. I'm sure the article isn't word for word what paolo said.

There seems to be negativity everywhere at the moment, when in fact we aren't really doing that badly.

Perhaps being away from Swindon and STFC games for a while has distanced me from the emotion a little... I found the rant hilarious.

Well if he did I think he'd be out of a job a while.  No other league 1 or 2 club could afford him and he hasn't done enough to attract most higher league clubs.

By professionalism, he isn't talking about how they talk to people or get on like best buds on and off the pitch, he's talking about a dedication to training and implemetning the tactis they have been told to use etc.  About committing their entire enegry to the cause of the football club - in some cases that means actually making personal sacrifices that would seem unreasonable to the general public -things we'd pretty nuts about if our employer dared to question us on. You know, like carrying on with work even though we are entitled to paternity leave. (as it happens, he's quite mild compared to some others like Trevor Francis back in the day fining a player who went to the birth of his child rather than be available for selection for a game as I remember it - another example of how someone who was pretty good at the game knowing what was needed to make that happen, although that may have been a little OTT).

His point is that if we accept footballers treating it like a job, or like a league one team, that's what we will get.  Despite doing many things that others would say is poor leadership, like criticising in public, he has done one very good example which is his own behaviours.  He has shown what he expects from others by his own actions following the death of his parents - total and utter commitement to the cause, unrelenting.

What we'll get is what I mentioned in the other thread, players coming and going as the vast majority will not sustain it and that's why he mentiones Barcelona.  The current team performance is founded on a culture in the club of total dedication to the cause and that is also whay they get so many talents coming through (on top of the clear bonus of being a massive name).  It's also why Ferguson may have done so well, because he is not a coach of any great stature but he developed a culture and when anyone starts wavering, he gets rid.  He also has spats with the media because they dare to criticise some of his actions, performances etc.

Oh, and I'm not sure how much better off you specifcally say as fact we will have been without him, there aren't many more places higher we could be with anyone else so that's a pretty big claim.

Or he kicks off because he is a very clever bloke who wants something out of the club - like some backing in his quest to turn us into a club with a better mentality top to bottom, including the yoofs which he obviously sees as a problem

PDC out! Let's Bring back Wilson, or Hart, or McMahon, or Evans, or Malpas, or Wise, or Onoura so we can continue to plod along in L1 and L2 watching dull shite.

Seriously, the comments on this are fucking ridiculous. God forbid anyone speak openly, honestly, have some drive and want to improve everything about the club.
