Anyone been to Skokholm? It's a small island off the Pembroke coast, near to Skomer. Been to Caldey, which is a bit more civilised and inhabited.

It's a lovely part of the world, and quite accessible from Swindon....used to go there loads, but not for a while. Think it was the closeness of Milford Haven, which put me off that particular corner....definitely an oversight on my part. |

My folks live in Stockholm, though I've only been over there twice.
The Wasa Museum is excellent, and wandering around the old town is brilliant. It's not a big place, and you can walk around the main parts pretty easily, depending on what time of year you go. You can get a public transport ticket "pass" that gives you unlimited bus, tram, underground and train travel for a set number of days which is excellent value. I think you can get 1,3,5 or 7 day cards and you can get them at Central Station or at the SL desk at the airport.
If you're flying into Arlanda then the Arlanda Express train is excellent (20 mins to Central Station) but expensive (Skr 260 from memory), or there are a couple of bus companies that run shuttles to the centre for much cheaper (SKr120 rings a bell, but I don't recall!) which takes around 40 mins.
If you're coming from Norway then the prices won't shock you at all, but as you would expect, beer is expensive, as are taxis. If you're going in a couple of weeks then it'll be cold but not cold enough to walk on the frozen rivers. In Feb/March they have an awesome ski/skate race from miles away down through all the rivers etc. But you'll miss that.
If you like the Steig Larsson books about The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo then they do walking tours that show you all of that stuff.
Just go and walk around the Old Town and have a look at the Palace etc. It's a pretty cool place!
