Wes on its own is a good standup name but Wesley sounds a bit wet. That said bit of advice I can give you is don't listen to anyone else's bollocks opinion.
He'll make it his own.

I think Wesley is a good name. Was under serious consideration for my son 21 years ago but in the end we went with a more common name.
Walter - surely not? It just brings memories of the wimpy kid always bullied by Dennis the Menace, even without the Wally conotations.

Delighted to say that Eleanor Bronwen arrived 5 weeks early on Monday night, proudest man alive! The premature issue has caused some concerns but we are getting there.
Feel I have done my bit with another Town supporter in the world!
