Would you be in favour of the ties just always being played at the higher placed team's stadium rather than home/away draws then? Would solve that problem.

Apologies for my lack of fish based metaphors. We'll call the higher place team "the bigger catch".

I think the clubs should be able to decide that between them. Draw home & away as you do now but if Grimsby end up home to Manchester United - the option should be there to play it at the away teams ground if both teams agree on it…

In some ways yes, but it also takes away the 'magic' of being drawn at home to a big side, getting a big crowd at home, earning a draw and then doing it again at a big ground with a large following. Ultimately you get to the same end point, but without the exciting journey you used to have.

It just seems very 'efficient'. I remember the days of unlimited replays in the league cup, now we have barely any. (did we have 4 games against Bolton one year?)

Yes we did, almost a 5th, as Ross Mclaren scored the winner in extra time with about 2 minutes to go. Otherwise it would have been back to Bolton again for another replay.

My first town game!

Good first game to choose...Bolton gave us 4 of the hardest games that season from memory, they were a good side but took them until 92-93 to get promoted from what was Div 3 at that time.

Sorry Nemo, but you missed a massive opportunity to back that up with ''...playing a higher plaice team...''  Embarrassed

Why are Prem clubs trying to dictate what happens in rounds 1 and 2 anyway?

If you want to put round 3 to a vote, they'd probably still lose.....but they shouldn't even get to vote on rounds 1 and 2. Its got fuck all to do with them.

I thought they should make replays optional, if both teams opt out then the first game can be decided in extra time/penalties.

If one team says no replays, then they have to win in 90 (or possibly 120) mins, a draw sends the team who were happy with a replay through.

The decision for each team should be made at the start of the competition.

Probably so they can later pretend to have listened to fans and walk back the decision to scrap all replays, while still having got rid of all replays for PL sides (i.e. from round 3 onwards). Take a mile and play the hero for giving an inch back

A number of clubs and chairman have made statements now about how they are disgusted with the decision made, and the fact the 72 clubs in the EFL were not even spoken to regarding the decision.

The lack of respect and arrogance of the Premier League is not surprising unfortunately.

You must have been to Aldershot away on a dark midweek night.
