Fucking lorry drivers, specifically the one who whilst we were on holiday last week was entirely unaware of the width and length of their vehicle and when overtaking me (very closely to start with) then veered across so tightly before he had got past that he crushed my hand between his wagon and my bar end and nearly dragged me under his wagon (all about about 20mph), thankfully (I am a better bike handler than I thought) I managed to keep it upright although I have been left with cuts and bruising to my right hand and a very high heart rate. Sadly I didn't get his details as I was too busy keeping it upright but a nice torrent of abuse about the driver from the following van who checked I was Ok!

Whilst the media and the government are doing a sterling job of dehumanising cyclists at the moment, please remember that they are human beings and someones son/daughter/husband/wife/father/mother and not just collateral damage in the desperate fight to get somewhere 10 seconds quicker....

I'm OK thanks, a bit nervous but managed to get out with a mate on Sunday which helped, really appreciated the effort he made coming up for a ride and natter!

What with the missus having a big health scare at the start of the month (all OK now), then my mum dying mid month and finally this August was a complete wanker of a shitshow, hopefully the shit happening in 3's is true.

Quickie

After about 500 miles the headset on my new bike seems to have come loose, I have loosened off the stem bolts and then tightened down the top cap bolt as hard as I can and its still rattling, any ideas?

Ta

Had actually watched those and having thought about overnight and taking the advice of the top one I have added an additional spacer on top of the stem which seems to have sorted it!

The Velo South 100 has been cancelled due to bad weather. Bit gutted as I've been training  for 6 months.

That is awful, but it's not fun cycling on your own in that wind, sod being in a group being blown around.

These could be fun if you want to use your fitness:

Good news: Organisers say they are exploring the possibility of postponing the event until a later date and will confirm this by next Wednesday.

Must admit that I had considered it, but decided against. Have done Birmingham and Wales. Moved on to the odd audax now.

These closed road things are just a bit too crowded.

Does anyone know anything about E Bikes?

Long story short, my Father in Law wants to buy MiL an e bike as she has a longstanding back issue, its going to be an eBay purchase I suspect, now the only thing I do know is that for a lot of older models the main problem is getting spares and especially batteries so is there anything to look out for in terms of buying second hand>
