So it's wet in Paris today. Could have made for an interesting climax if the tradition is not to race against the MJ on the last day. Why does the capital never get to see a proper race? Would be mental if everything went down to the last day. They'd quadruple the TV audience for a showdown like that.

Has an MJ ever changed on the final day?

I remember when the last stage was a TT, and Greg Lemond beat Lauron Fignon overall by 8 secs, it was estimated that if Fignon had cut off his pony tail, he'd have won.

I think the fact that Lemond was using Tri bars probably had more to do with it!

I think they should end the tour with a TT every year.

Apparently Fignon never got over that loss. 8 secs over 3000 miles is incredible.

Fair point. I like doing then to ride somewhere else, find new routes and get free flapjacks and a medal.

I probably wouldn't do a short one or the same one twice for the same reason you said

Does anyone know if there is a decent android app that displays cycle routes/paths in the UK?

Joined up with a gang from the bike shop after work yesterday for a ride a pint and a meal. Off road from Marlow to Henley where we stopped to eat, drink and be merry, followed by a different off road route from Henley back to Marlow. Off roading in the dark is interesting..... Got home at 12:15 a.m. and was up for work at 6:30 this morning. Silly buggers game this cycling lark Cheesy

For some stupid bizarre and insane reason I am contemplating the BHF South Downs Way ride next year.

This is 100miles, off road all along the SDW from Winchester to Eastbourne.

Having worked as a support car for friends who did it this year I have seen them go from looking fresh and keen at 50 miles to looking like shit at 70 miles and like death at 100. And they are both a helluva lot fitter than me.

It does beg the question "why" ??
