There's an ad on Irish TV at the moment showing fans on their way to Croke Park - walking through residential Dublin streets and there it is - a huge structure in the middle of rows of terraced houses.

This, understandable, trend of out of town stadia has hugely diminished the atmosphere inside and outside of grounds.

I always loved the approach to Anfield when I used to go 2 or 3 times a season in the early 70s.

The one and only time I have been to the Madjeski (3-0, Kuffour scored!) was a truly soulless experience.

It will be a sad day when/if we ever leave the CG for pastures new.

In theory, it should be easier to develop out of town in Swindon than in most places.  Which makes it all the more pleasing that we're not going to.  It sounds as if the Council are on side as well in this respect.  They can't have missed the fact that the town centre has died a death in the last 20 years...so having the football club move out of town along with everything else would only make things worse.
