I think the server keeps crashing, as my email keeps getting full of notifications, but it seems to be fine when I've checked.

Is it going down periodically?

Merci.

Notice the forum has an awful lot of guests currently (128 Guests, 33 Users)

Would making the forum for members only improve things with less strain on the server? Make anyone that wants to view it register.

Yes

And somewhat ironically this reply would have been posted some 10 minutes earlier if the TEF didn't crash on me

Shouldn't be an issue at those numbers, the forum would cope with many times that without a huge issue. There's actually a software problem, which looks to have now been solved. Thanks all.

A few times lately when I've used the search function it seems to cause the site to crash.

I've always been suspicious of the search even before the server move. Like you say, seems the form slows or stops when used, but not all the time.
