So does every torch bearer get their own torch
Yes, at the cost of £215! A small price to pay if you can sell for £150,000

so 8,000 torches at £500 a go - thats £4m. Why don't they just have one which they pass around and spend a little bit more on the opening ceremony rather than having Steve Redgrave and Paula Radcliffe dressed as clowns holding sparklers ?

Just a thought, but maybe they don't cost £500 each to make? (Wherever you plucked that figure from)

Maybe Di Canio should pop down to wharf green for an informal chat on Wednesday. Got to be worth a punt.

Olympic organisers Locog defended the cost at the time, saying a torch costs £495 to make and it was subsidising the price.

Sponsors of the torch relay can nominate people to do it, and as Samsung are one of the sponsors I guess they nominated Drogba, whilst will i am was nominated by Coke.

It's the whole Olympic thing. Yes it's good for the country but everywhere I turn it's Olympic this olympic that.
I'm awaiting for someone to complain that they find all the union jack flags racially offensive.
Your wait is over my son! I reckon those flags were stiched using the best stichers going in India. Wheres our recognition Lord Coe and the rest of the glory hogging cunts!

Don't suggest that. Given his past record he'll start off jogging alongside Drogba and end up doing a Forest Gump all over the UK.

He'll be at the olympic stadium lighting the flame and then taking on Usain Bolt before you know it.
