I'm a big fan of Crouch but I'm not that surprised he's been left out. Whilst Hodgson likes a traditional English striker, I'm not sure Crouch really fits the bill the same way as Carroll. I remember England games before when Crouch was supposed to be playing that role but he continually dropped off the front which is a problem when the other striker does the same.

But with Rooney out for the first two games, taking only three other strikers seems a bit short sighted. Guess Walcott is another option up front, seem to recall him saying it's his preferred position rather than winger. An in form Walcott and Chamberlain on the wings will be a pretty potent attacking force.

Think Hodgson has been set up for a fall by the FA, with him being appointed so late he doesn't really have the option of making major changes to the Capello squad. Don't think we'll see the real Hodgson team until next season.

I dont agree with the Hodgson out stuff, he came across very well in his press conference.

However, alot of the players in that squad have had 8 to 10 years worth of chances - and failed pretty much every time.

In part because of over the top expectations, part over hype and part just not being good enough footballers.

Probably the weakest England squad since Euro 92...then we finished bottom of the group, didn't win a game, and scored the one goal. Will be doing well to avoid something similar this time.
