The time has come to invest in a new mattress, the one I own is 5 years old and cost about £700 but it now leaves me with a back ache. I don't want to spend that much again, can anyone recommend a mattress that gives a good nights sleep and no back ache in the morning?

Did you know that memory foam was originally developed by NASA for its astronauts

I've heard memory foam can make for very hot nights? (and I mean temperature)

I've got an expensive memory foam mattress in my flat, but bought a cheap one for Mum's spare room. They're nearly identical and having slept on them both, I can't tell the difference despite being about a grand difference in price.

I got the cheap one on eBay, I'll see if I can find a link for you.

It was pretty much this. The seller I used is no longer a seller. It was called a Sleepshaper 500.

Cheers Bazza. Does it get really warm though? It says it is "temperature sensitive"  Huh?

When I moved from spring to memory foam I noticed no difference in terms of temperature, I'd never even heard of that until this thread. I think the auction is implying it's good in both hot and cold, but I'd give them a call if you're worried about getting hot.

Don't forget to dump your old mattress outside the house of the woman who was trapped last year.

My current mattress has a "latex" layer at the top which is/was comfy, when I bought it the sales guy said that "it didn't reflect much body heat, unlike the memory foam" (his words not mine). Maybe he was talking bollocks?  Smiley
I might pop into a bed shop and lay on one for a few hours to see if it's true  Cheesy

I was thinking of donating it to the pox, a few more donations and they could build a "bouncy" away end outside the fence.

I have a memory foam (Tempurpedic) and it by far the best mattress I have ever slept on.
