Neville was on the latest Class of 92 full time series and he said their budget was just shy of £3m

Also that Will Grigg would rather sign for Swindon before Salford

From a Crawley fan today

By the way, Newport look a good side but oddly lacking in confidence. Twine looks a Championship player and they have few others there who are better than this league.’

On the Creepy forum they are all saying how shit the game was between 2 poor teams, the only Newport player worthy of mention was Haynes who they said was the best player on the pitch, no mention of Twine there at all.

I think the figure was nearer 5.

Wow that's insane!
I can't imagine the Newport pitch allowed any good football to be played

I watched their game vs Newcastle earlier in the season and the pitch looks much better than it did previously, also Newport did play some very good passing football unlike they have in previous years. Yesterdays game was at Creepy though and thats never too bad a surface.

Fair points JJ and yes Creepy's pitch is usually ok

Really? Was that an interview from last season?

I suspect he would get a fraction of his current wage at Salford and a fraction of a fraction of what Salford could offer at Swindon. Last year would have been more likely, with the chance of a promotion, but this year, call me a 'Doubting Thomas' but, 'I can't see it myself!' (Said in a Welsh accent).

We see it differently then as I see the club gaining momentum now Wellens is getting the players playing to his style & tactics and as stated above he can only work within the same budget as all other teams
He's also managing in a bubble where COVID has zero impact which gives him a massive advantage over other clubs in that league. He showed that without money being thrown at him he is clueless and bailed as soon as the going got tough as he'd been found out tactically.

No that's disagreeing with you but that remains to be seen. I still think one of the reasons he left was because Power didn't back him and he knew the players we had would struggle plus probably knows more about the chairmans situation than we do

Was on the latest sky documentary which was filmed last season

I think his agent meant he would sign for Swindon before even entertaining Salford. As you say, we couldnt afford him anyway

I assume it was only a 6 month contract as the official announcement suggests he left at the end of his contract?

Yeah. But 6 months for your first pro contract seems odd.
