The first and probably last professional footballer I will ever see take 3 consecutive foul throws in one match. Fanstastic deal for him how on earth did they scout him! He had good games but should never have been a regular starter for us.

Quality move for him.

Personally glad he's gone. Think he's a mistake waiting to happen at any level.

Branco would have been one of the few I'd have kept.  But, no matter, we're more or less starting from scratch anyway, so might as well do the entire squad.

Does the Dunne signing mean Tom Smith is likely to be bench warmer this season if he does sign his contract?

I'm not sure I would ever have had him as a starter, not yet anyway. Hope he signs

I fear for anyone left over from last season. Brophy for example may well struggle.

Hope so. Absolutely not cut out for league football.

Agree unfortunately. Interested to see how Goddard gets on. Hopefully built some muscle. Think he's got promise but so lightweight.

All about balance and depth. No reason why JG can't play wide. No reason why Tom Smith can't be a 3rd or 4th choice CM if we're playing 442.

Brophy's going to have to go through an almighty transformation to be up to the new regime though.

The issue with Brophy will be fitness.

If Brophy can improve his fitness, which I think our players will do under Flickers, and as long as he is played in a wide wing position rather than wingback or even fullback then I think he can improve vastly. Also take you man on as he has some pace about him, get to the byline and get crosses in the box.

Sometimes with players, it's just about playing to their strengths.

Brophy's strength is an ability to dribble with the ball and go past people. Now this is something of a dying art. Many coaches don't encourage it, as it's high risk.

My gut feeling is that Flitcroft will be a conservative coach, so it's unlikely Brophy will see much game time, but maybe could find use as an impact sub , if chasing a game.

If brophy can improve literally every aspect of his game he might be a decent option off the bench

I'm going to stick my nexk out and say Brophy is wank and is not going to make an impact this season.

Agree. Of all the kids we've played he seems the most out of his depth in the Football League. Don't see it getting any easier for him in League 2.
