I'm convinced the reason is that Kasim needs to be the main man in midfield and even if he went to a Championship club I doubt he'd be afforded that.

He was a very bright young talent who seems to have lost his way. Hopefully Williams can do a job on him as he has done on a number of others.

I'm assuming there is a year option in there as well. Don't want to turn around a player and lose them for nothing 10 months later.
