It's a little bit facebook-generation of you to escalate some gentle teasing of your inherent francophobia into racism.

Disappointed in you. You should have trolled me for ageism instead.

It's like an apology for being caught out... But not quite.

Watching Pompey v Plymouth and Argyle have a midfielder, Carey, who looks decent.

Hope our extensive scouting system is looking in.

Should be in the ex players, but interesting stat on the Beeb, in that this is Gary Roberts 7th successive season in the playoffs.

Just scored a cracking penalty to equalise.

Williams was interviewed on the radio a couple of days ago and said that Tom Smith hadn't signed a deal yet and was weighing up his options. In other words, looking elsewhere.

If he wants to play football & develop he's nowhere more likely to do that than here, without stepping down!

It hasn't been announced yet but Tom Smith is staying at Swindon Town (from what I hear). Which I'm glad about. His exclusion from the senior squad post-Crewe goal scoring exploits was a peculiar one.

He had quite a serious injury post Christmas which kept him out of action for months - but from what I've seen of the U18s over the last couple of years, he's an out and out footballer (short passing on the deck), which will suit how Town play under Luke Williams.

With Yaser Kasim to leave over the summer ?? And Anton Rodgers the only senior central midfielder remaining, Smith and Jake Evans could see plenty of action in pre-season to press their case - with STFC recently notorious for signing players late in the summer window.

Good luck to 'em both.

Don't forget the new signing John Goddard who is an attacking central midfielder also.

Looking at the sometimes reliable Transfermrkt, Goddard seems to have mostly played high on the left as a wide forward. Otherwise he was quite often a 10, more like Iandolo. Has also played a few times as a support striker or on the right.

There is just too many gaps in the squad to predict a shape but clearly there is flexibility in the formation, but the style is very set.

Working on a 3-5-2 formation, state of the squad currently:

GK - Belford, Henry (YTS)

CB - Sendles-White
CB - N.Thompson
CB - Rossi-Branco

RWB - Barry
LWB - Ormonde-Ottewill / Brophy

CM - Kasim / T.Smith (1st Year Pro)
CM - Rodgers / J.Evans (1st Year Pro)
AM - Goddard / Iandolo / J.Stewart

FOR - Ajose / Hylton / J.Young (YTS)
FOR - Obika / M.Smith

Before considering replacements for the sellables (Ajose, Kasim and M.Smith), reckon we'll be looking for a first choice goalkeeper, first team centre back, spare right back/right wing back and another first team central midfielder as a minimum.
