Agree. Of all the kids we've played he seems the most out of his depth in the Football League. Don't see it getting any easier for him in League 2.

He stepped further up than any of the others from his previous level...so getting to be semi acceptable in Div 3, is to his credit.

He's still youngish, so it is just about conceivable, that if a system is devised to play to his strengths he could be OK. One thing in certain, he's no left back or LWB.

Not many held out much hope for Alan Mac, it took Ossie playing him in the hole, as an attacking midfielder for us to get a mill+ and for him to go to the WC.

I disagree. There is a decent player there. A change in style may well see him blossom.

Ditto Goddard.

Exactly. I wouldn't write him off so quickly at a lower level than he played at with us last season.

Agree on both.  Lots of potential which obviously has to be realised at some point but with decent coaching and improved fitness levels.... who knows?

Brophy needs a lot of work, but he has shown glimpses of potential. I wouldn't be upset if he left though.

Brophy showed glimpses of ability but mostly just flattered to deceive with his horizontal runs from one wing to the other before giving the ball away. He has no defensive nous whatsoever and would be outmuscled by 99% of players.

If he can strengthen up and remember how to get to the byline, he might be worth keeping if we need a left winger.

His other main problem is an inability to cross the ball.... not helpful in a winger, but that is the sort of thing that can be improved by hard work.

He's able to cross a ball, just not consistently, which as you say is something than can be improved through training.

Him and Goddard are worlds apart. Goddard has the potential to be a big player this season.

So in Brophy we have a winger who cannot get to the by-line and cannot cross a ball, nor defend.... but can run quite quickly.

Its Alan O'Brien all over again, he's only 32 lets give him another go!

No Brophy can't run quite quickly... but he can dribble.  A O'B was one of those much loved in English football who can run quite quickly, into the deadest of ends.

Ah the modern footballer with some skill but no ability to do anything with it a kind of lower league Raheem Sterling?

Dean Hooper was a much better example.

No Hylton at training today. The only one missing.

Taxi for Hylton (again)
