Michael Smith will be returning to Swindon Town in January after Barnsley opted against making his loan move permanent. #stfc

So Lee Johnson couldn't 'get the best' out of him after all.

Considering how physically weak we are up front with Ajose and Obika perhaps his return is timely?

Clean slate for Smithy I hope. He's shown us at times he can be valuable. He needs some confidence and fast though.

We know there's a player in there somewhere. Perhaps Lingy can get it out of him.

Oh....

Fuck knows where Michael's head will be at, after this.

You'd think there'd be an almighty incentive but it's not always proven to be the case.

Summer of 2015 he was on the brink of a move to Sheffield United for a six figure fee but as it stands he'd be lucky to get a free transfer to Gateshead (where at least he'd be happy) in 2016.

The career of a lower league footballer, eh.

I see Barnsley are also releasing Simeon Jackson, only 28. One thing about Power is that he should understand what being a lower league journeyman is about.

I'd have loved to have had Simeon Jackson here a few years ago.

I know Michael Smith wanted to move further north... perhaps he could buy a house in Cheltenham or something, yeah ok it's not the North East, but it is further north than Swindon..
