What would Wigan fans think of those stats? Would they think using a high number of players spells disaster? Or Sheff U fans when their team is just outside the Playoffs? There are way too many variables for it to be anything but meaningless, unless you allow confirmation bias to settle in. We used a relatively high number of players when PDC was here....... WE NEED TO USE MORE PLAYERS |

But Wigan and Sheff Utd have big squads of pretty much equal competitiveness. Blades, indeed, regularly are able to put out 2 entirely different XIs in cup and league.
Maybe what those stats show is we are very weak, almost uncompetitive, without the first XI playing. Hence the disaster now.

Maybe. Maybe is a lot different from 'confirm'. Maybe those stats also show that we have been rather unlucky with injuries and just can't compete with larger clubs such as Sheff U and Wigan. Maybe. Maybe those stats confirm that we would be higher in the table had we not has so many injuries. Maybe. |
