If anyone has a SGII, you may know that the Ice Cream Sandwich update has finally been released for Sim-free users. It has been out for O2, Vodafone and Three users already.

Mine's unlocked, but when I connect to Kies, I get the following message:
"Your device does not support software upgrading via Kies"

Why is this? I have updated to the latest version of Kies. It recognises the phone and I can view the stuff in it, but it comes up with that message on the main screen.

I have just updated to Ice Cream Sandwich and don't find it a lot different at all TBH, seems ok though but not a big step up from the previous version.

It's like any OS update on phones, you get a few new features but everyone hypes themselves silly before it comes out.

That said, on the HTC Sensation it's made the phone a lot better, but I think a lot of that has come from the update to HTC Sense.

It seems ok but just very very similar with barely a tweak or 2, I noticed a couple of new games as standard and a couple of little differences in the settings and phonebook, I do like my Samsung Galaxy SII though, brilliant phone and quick with any OS on it.

Amazon but the firmware is XEU, so it should be fine.

I just really want that task manager.

Yeah the Touchwiz launcher makes it essentially the same as Gingerbread.
I really like the look of the stock ICS rom, but then I'd have to root and all that business, which I'm not too confident about. Still got a good 6 months on my warranty too.

You download the latest version of Samsung Kies from http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/usefulsoftware/KIES/JSP

Then you plug your phone to your laptop/PC via a USB cable.

Then a message should pop up saying you have an upgrade available.

But in my case, it doesn't  Angry

My dad's is upgraded though. And I also upgraded my friend's on my laptop, so it definitely does work.

Try a different launcher like ADW Launcher, Launcher Pro or Go Launcher.

Yup but it doesn't change all the menus such as settings... It brings back the old gingerbread feel.
