http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ray_Barlow

Always been impressed with this man...a Pinehurst boy done good....played local footy as a boy in Swindon and went on to earn an England cap while also an ever present at West Brom.

Often in the top eleven all time players for the Baggies.....sadly died yesterday...RIP.

Can't resist the urge to, in a Jeff Stelling kind of way, say

our thoughts and condolences to Ken & Deidre.

Never knew Pinehurst produced an England international.

I am almost ashamed to admit I have never heard of him, RIP and deepest condolances to his family.

RIP Mr Barlow.

Held in great esteem by Sir Bobby Robson and Don Howe.

I've kind of given up Tans....I've been rattling on for 5 or 6 years about some of this shit, without getting very far.

Take this relatively recent bit about Ray Barlow....couple of years ago

Quote
I suppose there are two names which readily spring to mind on this subject....daddy of the lot is Ray Barlow.

Barlow is a West Brom legend, recently voted in their top 16 all time...won the FA Cup and played for England...Barlow was spotted playing for Garrards in the Wilts League, in 44, by Jimmy Cookson, who played for the Baggies, finished at STFC just prior to the War and was running a pub in Swindon

Always assumed that because the country was still in a state after the war, it was easy for a talent like this to slip through the Town net.
