So what do we do with our order number? Any way to confirm my booking, as I did it through the phone.

No one seems to be going higher up. I've gone for block 540, but perhaps 130 would have been better??

Why the club couldn't open the hatches over a fortnight i do not know?
Sales easily could have been spread with those in the office manning the phones whilst other staff issued tickets from the hatches.
Chesterfield could manage it

We should definitely have given it some thought, however the queues would have been legendary and I bet more complaints would have ensued.  I don't know how Chesterfield have managed, but fair play to them.
