Surely, if this lapse in bookies software does exist, then the best way of exploiting it is to get in contact with someone who actually attends the track to phone in the result as soon as the dogs go past the line to minmise any time delay

Some of the races you can watch online on www.24dogs.com, so the difference in real time is about 15 seconds. |
